EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens working in Spain over 3 months register their residency through the EU Registration Certificate.
EU Registration Certificate as a worker
What it is: EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens living in Spain for more than three months and working there follow the same Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión route — but working status is the simplest basis to register on.
What counts as proof: Your employment contract or Social Security alta (or autónomo registration if self-employed) is your proof of means, so you normally do not need to show separate funds or private health cover — working gives you access to the public health system.
How the process runs: Bring your EX-18 form, NIE, padrón certificate, and work evidence to the appointment. The fee is 12.00 EUR via Modelo 790-012.
Practical note: Keep the certificate and your NIE — you will need both for employment, tax, healthcare, and digital ID steps.
